[vinyl] Desolat X-Sampler (Blue)

Specs:

Artist(s): Loco Dice, Martin Buttrich, Premiesku, Guti, Audiofly, Yaya, Dj Sneak, Franck Roger
Name: Desolat X-Sampler (Blue)
Genre: techno, tech-house, house
Label: Desolat
Catalog: DESOLAT 015
No. of vinyls: 2
Type: normal

Tracklist:

A1: Martin Buttrich - Roads
A2: Livio & Roby - Rai Root
B1: Guti & Audiofly - Speechless Theory 11
B2: Yaya - Talk to your Heart
C1: Loco Dice - Don't Make Signal
C2: Franck Roger  -  Egotrippin
D1: Premiesku - Garey
D2: Dj Sneak - No Challenge

 Opinion:

If you missed the review for the red sampler, that appeared one year ahead of the blue compilation, you can find it here. This is the second Christmas present from Desolat, that appeared just a few months ago in the stores. Most of the people from the previous sampler are present (except for tINI), and a good news is that the vinyls are filled with 8 tracks instead of 6 (remember how I complained because of the unused space). So my dream came true, with the help of Dj Sneak, Audiofly and Franck Roger. Another good thing is that Livio & Roby have 2 tracks on this LP (one released under their other name, Premiesku, the name of the project created by them and George G).

[vinyl] Kollektiv Turmstrasse - Luechtoorn

Specs:

Artist(s): Kollektiv Turmstrasse; remix by Dominik Eulberg
Name: Luechtoorn
Genre: techno, tech-house
Label: Musik Gewinnt Freunde
Catalog: MGF 010
No. of vinyls: 1
Type: normal

Tracklist:

A:   Luechtoorn (Original)
B:
Luechtoorn (Dominik Eulberg Remix)

Opinion:

Remember my review of Holunderbaum EP (found here)? There I said, and I quote: "Nico & Christian produce is, in my opinion, the most "sentimental" type of techno around". And I was refering especially to the sound of the Herz aus Hotz Mix. The same sound can be found on the original mix of Luechtoorn.

[vinyl] Dj. T - Time Out

Specs:

Artist(s): Dj. T

A2: Time Out (Random Factor Mix)
B:   Time Out (Acid Dub)

Opinion:

Dj. T a.k.a. Thomas Koch is a great producer. Also a great dj. Also a great club and label owner. And not to mention jurnalist and producer. Having over 20 years in the field of music, Thomas uses on this EP an old italo house track and transforms it into modern electronic music.

[vinyl] Jeff Mills - Our Man from Havana

Specs:

Artist(s): Jeff Mills
Name: Our Man from Havana
Genre: techno
Label: Purpose Maker
Catalog: PM-004
No. of vinyls: 1
Type: normal

Tracklist:

A1: The Fly Guy
A2: Calypso High
B1: Cubango
B2: Sugar Is Sweeter

Opinion:

This is a classic record (1997) made by a classic dj. Jeff Mills is a living legend, having legendary skills both at djing (up to 70 tracks mixed in one hour, and on vinyl records) and production, releasing detroit techno tracks at his own labels (Axis and Purpose Maker). He is a classy kind of guy, that`s because he embraces tightly the analog art of mixing and doing music. And to some, this approach (especially when creating music) and his detroit style genre may seem rough, inexpressive and even hurtful for the ears. But to me, his tracks represent a work of a genius, released from the true core of electronic music. More electronic than that you just cannot get.

[vinyl] Sis - La Garua

Specs:

Artist(s): Sis

Label: Cecille
Catalog: CEC002-6
No. of vinyls: 1
Type: normal

Tracklist:

A: Orgsa
B1: Lesh (Inchi&Maya)
B2: Can Bando

Opinion:

One thing is for sure: Sis knows how to rock the dancefloor. I saw him 2 times in my clubbing-life and I always had a very good time at the parties where he was invited to present his live act. Being supported by people like Ricardo Villalobos, Loco Dice, Luciano and Audiofly, he dropped this bomb EP at Cecille Records.

[vinyl] Nick Curly - Series 1.3

Genre: tech-house
Label: Cecille
Catalog: CEC013
No. of vinyls: 1
Type: normal

Tracklist:

A: Bulgaria
B: Ak()n

Opinion:

Series 1.x is the name of (guess what??) a series of 3 EP`s released by Nick Curly on Cecille Records. The last installment features my favorite track from this artist, namely Bulgaria. The second track, Ak()n is very good also, maintaining the flawless style of Curly`s tech-house...

[vinyl] Paul van Dyk Feat. Jessica Sutta - White Lies

Specs:

Artist(s): Paul van Dyk Feat. Jessica Sutta; remixes by Alex M.O.R.P.H., Dave Spoon
Name: White Lies
Genre: trance
Label: High Contrast
Catalog: HCR041
No. of vinyls: 1
Type: normal

Tracklist:

A1: White Lies (Berlin Mix)(Paul van Dyk & Alex M.O.R.P.H. remix)
A2: White Lies (L.A. Mix)(Paul van Dyk remix)
B1: White Lies (Dave Spoon remix)
B2: White Lies (Dave Spoon dub)

Opinion:

Now Paul van Dyk is a god when it comes to electronic music. Even if you don`t like the genre, you can`t deny that when he comes into town, the venue will be sold out and everyone will dance until the sunlight. This EP offers 4 remixes to White Lies, the first single from In Between LP. Jessica Sutta offers the vocals, demonstrating that she has a very nice voice, not just looks. A great song from a great album.

[vinyl] Ilario Alicante - Jam Dishes

Specs:

Artist(s): Ilario Alicante; remixes by Livio & Roby and Daniel Sanchez
Name: Jam Dishes
Genre: tech-house
Label: Bla Bla
Catalog: BLA BLA 003
No. of vinyls: 1
Type: normal

Tracklist:

A1. Jam Dishes (Original Mix)
A2. Jam Dishes (Livio & Roby remix)
B.  Jam Dishes (Daniel Sanchez remix)

Opinion:

I really like Ilario Alicante. Being born in Italy, the Latin blood and temperament is also present (in a way) in his tracks. He has a very alert style of tech-house (something like Alex Picone). He released tracks at labels like Cecille, Cocoon, Sci+Tec, Bosconi and the Netherlands-based label Bla Bla (here featured). Romanian duo Livio & Roby and Daniel Sanchez present their own (calmer than the original) versions of the track.

[vinyl] Faithless - Not going home

Specs:

Artist(s): Faithless; remixes by Eric Prydz, Armin van Buuren, Rollo & Sister Bliss
Name: Not going home
Genre: house, progressive house, trance
Label: Rise
Catalog: RISE 499

Tracklist:

A1. Not Going Home (original mix)
A2. Not Going Home (Eric Prydz remix)
B1. Not Going Home (Armin van Buuren remix)
B2. Not Going Home (Rollo & Sister Bliss remix)

Opinion:

Not Going Home is the lead single taken from Maxi Jazz`s and Sister Bliss` new album, entitled The Dance Never Ends... and what a track it is. If you loved Insomnia (who does not??!!) you will see the same style used here. The track starts slowly and builds up in a breathtaking finale, making every single person in the club jump over and over again.

[dj set] Kenshin - Trance Worldwide 100

Not many people can say they hosted 100 radio shows but I can, starting from next week, when this episode of my show will be broadcasted, Monday on tranceradio.ch (Switzerland), Thursday on trance.fm (Holland) and Friday on trancenet.ro (Romania). As 100 is a special number, I decided to mix as many tracks as I can in one hour. I succeeded to incorporate 32 songs in one mix, super-hits from artists like: Aalto, Above & Beyond, ATB, Armin van Buuren, Andy Moor, Super8 & Tab, Rank1, Cosmic Gate, Paul van Dyk, Oceanlab, and many more...

Hopefully you will enjoy listening to it as much as I enjoyed making it, so check below for the playlist and download link:

Tracklist:

A. Anjunabeach (Original Mix)
B. Anjunabeach (Jerome Isma-Ae Remix)

Opinion:

When I see that a track is made by Above & Beyond, I don`t need to hear it to know it`s good. I love those guys, they make the best trance tracks and also manage one of the best trance labels, Anjunabeats. The song reviewed here can also be heard on the Anjunabeats Volume 7 compilation.

Opinion:

Even if I will repeat myself, I rank Livio, Roby & GeorgeG as no.1 producers of tech and deep house in Romania. No wonder they released their tracks on labels like Cecille, Desolat and Viva. I have a bunch of vinyls with their songs and I will surely review them all here on my blog. So if Nick Curly or Loco Dice think those guys are good, they must be :D

[vinyl] Kollektiv Turmstrasse - Holunderbaum

Specs:

Artist(s): Kollektiv Turmstrasse; remix by Mick Rubin
Name: Holunderbaum
Genre: techno
Label: Musik Gewinnt Freunde
Catalog: MGF 04
No. of vinyls: 1
Type: normal

Tracklist:

A1: Holunderbaum (Original Mix)
A2: Holunderbaum (Mick Rubin Remix)
B1: Holunderbaum (Herz Aus Holz Mix)
B2: Holunderbaum (Rumpel Mix)

Opinion:

Kollektiv Turmstrasse is one of my favorites when it comes to techno. That`s because what Nico & Christian produce is, in my opinion, the most "sentimental" type of techno around. Yes, you may argue that techno is very far from having deep spiritual tracks, but you should hear this out. These guys produce such original tracks they were bound to be featured on a top-class compilation. So Sven Vath (no introduction needed) chose Herz aus Holz Mix on his The Sound of the 9th Season mix. And when Sven chooses something, it is damn good.
